• Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers

  • Eligibility: Researchers from abroad, completion of Ph.D. (or equivalent) within the past 4 years
  • Fellowship Duration: 6-24 month research stay at a research institution in Germany

• Sofja Kovalevskaja Award

  • Eligibility: Top researchers from abroad, completion of Ph.D. (or equivalent) within the past 6 years
  • Award Duration: 5 years for project of own choice at a research institution in Germany. Applications accepted every two years

Fellowship for Experienced Researchers

• Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers

  • Eligibility: Researchers from abroad, completion of Ph.D. (or equivalent) within the past 12 years
  • Fellowship Duration: 6-18 month research stay at a research institution in Germany (the fellowship is flexible and may be divided up into as many as three stays within three years)

  • Eligibility: Academics from all disciplines from abroad who are at the forefront of their discipline and are expected to contribute to enhancing Germany’s sustained international competitiveness as a research location
  • Award Duration: Up to 5 years to carry out long-term and ground-breaking research at universities and research institutions in Germany
  • *Candidates must be nominated by German universities; non-university research institutions may also submit nominations jointly with a German university

  • Eligibility: Outstanding researchers from abroad in all fields of the humanities and social sciences
  • Award Duration: Up to 5 years to cooperate on a long-term research project with the nominator and / or specialist colleagues at a research institution in Germany
