Texas Humboldtians’ Annual Meeting in Round Top, TX
April 26, 2014
As in years past, Humboldtians from the University of Texas, Austin, Rice University, and Texas A&M convened in Round Top, Texas, for their annual meeting, which was made possible, in part, through a grant from the American Friends Alumni Council. In addition to Alumni Council members Jaan Laane and Barbara Becker-Cantarino, AFAvH staff participated in the meeting, which was organized by Texas A&M University Humboldtian Donald Dickson.
Over the past four years, Humboldtians have gathered at this musical oasis in German-Texas Hill Country, which is located equidistantly from Austin, Houston and College Station. This year’s meeting, on April 26, 2014, featured UT Austin Humboldtian Francisco Gonzalez-Lima, who spoke about the “Enhancement of Human Cognitive and Emotional Functions with Transcranial Lasers,” and students from the UT Butler School of Music, who sang and performed German Baroque music. The meeting drew 20 guests, which included around a dozen Humboldtians, spouses, and colleagues who had come to learn about the programs offered by the AvH.
